Difficult Verse #3 (Guest Writer Pastor David Stogsdill)
Foundation of the Church:
Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
This Rock is Christ, though religion would have us believe that Jesus built His church upon Peter. Jesus is saying to Peter that the confession that Jesus is “the Christ, the Son of the living God” is the foundational claim for any church. Jesus Christ, and belief in Who He is, is our truth upon which everything is built.
1 Corinthians 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
