Difficult Verse #2
Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost
Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
Matthew 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
This is a worry of many folks, but their worry is evidence that they have not committed this unpardonable act. In our age, there are perhaps many who have reached the point where their rejection of the Spirit's conviction has reached its limit. So before they have rejected too many times, we should warn the sinner of this real danger and we should encourage everyone to not resist the Spirit’s wooing. This blasphemy is a result of turning off the Holy Ghost and getting to a place where He never deals with the sinner again. Truly, this is unpardonable.
