James 1:8 (NKJV) "...he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."The double-minded are those who vacillate in their thinking. Because they are not firm in their thinking, they are unstable. On the other hand, double-think is holding two opposing ideas at the same time. with the former, ideas vary. With the latter, there is no variance. The thinker has no problem with holding conflicting beliefs.
An example of double-minded is alternating between belief in God and unbelief. An example of double-thinking is believing that God has prepared a place for us in heaven, but could not prepare for us a place on earth. In other words, even though He is God, he lacks godly powers. He can only create the unseen, and not the seen. The former is hypocritical, and the latter is Orwellian.
Our mind is a peculiar organ. It, and only it, considers the options and directs the entire body to do the most rational option. It is the control center for each person. The control centers abounding in the world communicate with each other, and each seek to control the other. I call this world's colliding!
Unfortunately, double-minded and double-thinking people disrupt the world. Double-minded people pick and choose doctrine to fit the occasion. Their Bible is multiple choice depending on their own desires. Double-thinking people are heretical. Truth is not absolute. God is God, and yet He is not! When it suits the purpose to have God, he is real, but when it's not convenient He is myth.
For those who are neither double-minded or double-thinking, God just IS. He IS truth, he IS the Beginning and the End, and He IS the Almighty. He IS the man who walked on water, and He IS the He who died for all our sins. He IS the one who was resurrected and resides in heaven. He IS the one who came back in Spirit and Comforts us. There is no wavering nor holding opposing thoughts. He IS the Creator and Savior!
