A DOUBLEMINDED MAN - final

The commentary left off with the startling claim that humans have two brains. However, before the two-brain theory is examined, the “two-mind theory” should be explored!

Of course, there is “heart rate variability” (HRV) wherein there is a parasympathetic nervous system; the nervous system handles inputs from the internal organs, and a sympathetic nervous system that reflects responses to things like stress and exercise, and that increases the heart rate and blood pressure. (Whoop 2023). Internal organs are controlled without thought. Hence, hidden within the mind is another mind of which the person is not aware.

However, that mind goes beyond the parasympathetic and sympathetic to include the sub-conscious and even the unconscious.

“Sympathetic” means the nervous system that is controlled by the brain are things mediated by the unconscious mind through the nervous system. What if you had to think in order to grow nails (parasympathetic) or increase the heart rate (sympathetic). Then you would be the “god” that controls who you are!

Science has it that the right side of the brain controls so many of such things. That is not to say that a person with the two brains severed, the cutting of the corpus callosum, has no heart rate nor that the fingernails fail to grow, but that the two brains work in tandem for efficiency.

The human brain is actually two brains, each capable of advanced mental functions. When the cerebrum is divided surgically, it is as if the cranium contained two separate spheres of consciousness. (National Library of Medicine 1967)

The parasympathetic and sympathetic systems are systems of the unconscious and beneath awareness.  Hence, both brains assist each other but perhaps the right brain is dominant. Given that, there are two minds that control the involuntary muscles and even the cells of the body. The “mind” therefore is the neurological system and its processors, the brains.

Yes, there are two functional processors, each with their controller, “grey matter includes regions of the brain involved in muscle control, and sensory perception such as seeing and hearing, memory, emotions, speech, decision-making, and self-control” ( (Wikipedia 2023).

On the other hand, white matter relays, regulates, and coordinates communications between two brain regions.

Memories are stored in the hippocampus region of the brain. Humans and other mammals, for the most part, are the kinds with hippocampus regions in both hemispheres of the brain. With that said, most other kinds do not have two hippocampus regions and their memories are much less.

The Creator planned it that way… “God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth” (Gen 1:26). Humans have dominion over the other kinds surely because God gave them two hippocampus regions. Although hippo literally means “horse,” its root means “swift.”  “Campus” comes from the shape of that region — a fish. (Sciolist 1995-2023). No wonder a study area is a campus! It is a region of thought processes.

Humans have memory, not only short-term memory that can be quickly retrieved recent events, but longtime memory which may never be retrieved or retrieved only with difficulty. That makes mankind dominant above the other creatures.

Memories are encoded for retrieval and perhaps so that others cannot retrieve the thoughts of another.

Early “man,” not really a “man” but another extinct kind — the Neanderthals — are now only history. Why did they face extinction and the kind most like them did not?

Science calls it a “gene mutation” that caused the man to have dominion (Osborne 2022). However, it must be by improvement. That is scientific because of “entropy,” the cosmos goes toward disorder, not order, so any improvement in the genes would not be by evolution but divine improvement to overcome the world.

Neanderthals were indeed primates but not human. It makes more sense that they devolved from humans rather than the other way around! Who was there to know the truth? God alone! Osborne says that the improvement was by “mutation,” allowing humans to have more neurons in the neocortex — “an area of the brain involved in cognitive development” (ibid).

Human beings are homo sapiens — “wise men” or in other words, “cognitive Adams.” Adam was dominant possibly because of two rational reasons, according to science; (1) the hippocampus and (2) the new and improved, over the other kinds, neocortex.

The neocortex “is a set of layers of the mammalian cerebral cortex involved in higher-order brain functions such as sensory perception, cognition, generation of motor commands, spatial reasoning and language” (Wikipedia 2023). That is what Adam was gifted with to make him the dominant species!

Can you not see? Science is discovering what how God made all the kinds. Their observation is that homo sapiens are the dominant species, just as God revealed. Rather than accept the Creation account, they go with the mutation theory. God must get credit when credit is due Him!

Is it possible that the two independent hippocampus regions each store different types of information? Yes, it does! It is called “lateralization.”

The hippocampus is essential for certain forms of learning and memory, both in humans and in rodents, and also plays an important role in navigation. The left and right mammalian hippocampi comprise the same anatomical areas and directional connectivity, and yet in the human hippocampus, task-related activity may be localized to only one hemisphere. This lateralization may enable the left and right hippocampus to support complementary functions in human episodic memory, with left hippocampal activity associated with an egocentric, sequential representation of space but greater activity in the right hippocampus when an allocentric representation is used. It has been suggested that human hippocampal asymmetry is primarily dictated by external asymmetry—namely, the left hemispheric involvement in language processing and the stronger contribution of the right hemisphere to visuospatial attention, supported by observations of left hippocampal dominance when semantic information is most task-relevant, compared with right hippocampal dominance when spatial information becomes more pertinent. (Shipton 2014)

Consider two points therein: (1) “task-related activity may be localized to only one hemisphere” and (2) “This lateralization may enable the left and right hippocampus to support complementary functions in human episodic memory, with left hippocampal activity associated with an egocentric, sequential representation of space but greater activity in the right hippocampus when an allocentric representation is used.”

Tasks are what the right brain is said to do whereas the left brain is said to judge the activity; it is the decision-making world that controls the action, or behavioral, world.

Lateralization is an activity. They are two opposing organs that complement each other. (I have written of that many times before.)

Eve was an “Adam” as well, a female of her husband’s kind. Her gender was “Eve.” As it turns out, Eve was of a different mind than Adam. Her thoughts were much different. Her husband was cautious and cognitive. Hers was egocentric and active. He would have been called “left brain” and she “right brain.” They were married and became one flesh. They were each one-brained, or single-minded, but when they came together as one flesh, perhaps then they became double-minded and maybe even with two brains.

By coincidence? Another meaning of the name, “Eve” is “Symbiosis.” She was called “Eve” for a reason. “Because she was the mother of all living” (Gen 3:20). Because of sin, perhaps, Eve did mutate, or degenerate. No longer of one mind with Adam, she became symbiotic — “the living together in close association of two different kinds of organisms” (Merriam-Webster 2023).

What was the close association that came about? Because of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, Eve became double-minded and what’s more her identity was altered. She alone had the wherewithal to pass along mitochondrial DNA. Eve was symbiotic; she had the cunning of the Beast, with the addition of his “Image” (Hebrew; Nahas.) No longer was she of a “good” Image (selem) but was both humane and inhumane in that the alien being imbued her with its genome in conjunction with the Genome of God (Nahas).

It is ambiguous whether the genetics of Eve came from Satan, or not, but it is for certain that Cain was of the Wicked One because scriptures says so (1 John 3:12).

Whatever got into Eve, God corrected, to wit: “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them” (Gen 3:21).

They were in a sense, regenerated. God corrected their genetics, and they became right with Him again. Afterward, God preserved them from the wiles of the Devil (The Book of Adam and Eve and Their Conflicts with Satan). Their new flesh would house their larger brains if they then in fact had two.

Think not of flesh alone, but single-mindedness. Thereafter, Eve longed for her nature before the fall; the nature that God passed to her through “lateralization.” On the first day, as written before, the two received their immortal souls and minds before the foundation of the world… before their fleshes were made as well.

Eve had become doubleminded, and she thereafter had two “lords” — the “LORD GOD” and the “lord” that was the nahas image.

Note that Eve was not named “Eve” until after she sinned. Before that time, God was the Creator of all living. After sin, Eve gave to her “lord,” not a “man” (Adam), but an “‘is” in the Hebrew — an “extant” (Strong 2006), another kind of existence.

The woman, Eve, having no faculty of judgement prior to sin (innocence), lateralized that from the Wicked One to Cain. Cain got the mind of the Wicked One — judgment — from the evil nature of the Tree of Knowledge. It seems to be more than a tree, but a “family tree” — a genetic pedigree with God as the root of one mind (Col 1:1) and the Wicked One as the “root of all evil” (1 Tim 6:10) and of another mind.

Note that when God blew the breath of life into the “nostrils” (literally forehead)) of Adam, it was the Mind of God that “inflated” the new being. Having no fleshly father or mother, would Adam have two minds? No, he was single-minded with the Mind of God.

The lower creatures are different. They are of a lesser rank than either angels or mankind. They do not have two hemispheres as mammals do. God created them all with a single brain. Why would He change course with Adam? Adam was generated glorious. The Glory of God is both His Existence — His Genome — and His Mind. (It should be noted that all mammals became double-minded and many were apparently cast out along with Adam and Eve.)

Why would God make Adam not in His Image? Goodness is of one mind in the manner of God who alone is “Good.” Why would God make Adam doubleminded? Why would God provide for Adam two brains, especially when the left brain is to judge all things? I submit that man was created both single-minded and single brained. He was created like His Existence — the cosmos — which has one spherical dome that from anywhere seems to be two hemispheres.

Although it is conjecturing that God created man with one brain, it is not conjecture that He created man with single-mindedness. Repeated from before, James said, “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” and added to that “Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded” (Jas 4:8). Change your natures, James implied; edit who you are genetically!

Doublemindedness is sinfulness which is coming “short of the Glory of God” (Rom 2:23). God did not make man with a double mind but with His Mind alone. Why would mankind need two brains that they now have, as science says, if there was no knowledge of evil to judge between it and goodness?

It would be interesting to find out if those with their corpus callosum cut would have useful judgement or would they do things instinctively.

Righteousness was meant to be instinctive because Adam was endowed with the Mind of God. God engenders the sinner with righteousness (“born again”). As such, the cranium of Adam was a sanctuary for the Mind. No wonder Golgotha is the “place of the skull” — the place of Adam’s cranium, as it turns out! [1]

Adam had one cranium, perhaps because that was all that was required; with him made in the Image of the Existence — the cosmos — had need for only one dome for one existence, certainly not the internal existence with two brains that we all now have!

Because we are “doubleminded” means that to be “single-minded” requires persuasion to judge rightly, to wit: “Then (King Herod) Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian” (Acts 26:28). Agrippa’s left brain failed to lateralize proper judgement as his left brain transmitted dangerous information as “good” to his right brain. Again, the Wicked One deceived a man with the alleged brain of God to follow his instincts that were from his progenitor, the Devil.

If Agrippa had been single-minded with the Mind of God alone, then to trust God would have been instinctual, rather than cognitive. His mind would have automatically and unconsciously done the right thing using only his right brain.

This concludes the commentary, however, research this more using scripture. The Bible is full of the deception and correction of the mind!

Is it mere coincidence, “Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness” (Psalm 74:14); that the Serpent “Leviathan” has numerous heads, two or more, and that for each head, there is a brain to match?
