TRIBE OF DAN vs. SEA PEOPLES - Part 3 of 3

Delayed from earlier, but next, we shall compare the Danite sea-faring people to the Philistines.

The first appearance of the Philistines in the Bible occurs from David’s song: “Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph you because of me” (Psalm 60:8). He continued, “…over Philistia will I triumph.” (Psalm 108:9)

When King Nebuchadnezzar (II) invaded Judea, the Philistines ceased to exist as a people, whereas Judea, as the nation of Israel triumphs to this time.

 

Reliefs and texts from the mortuary temple of Pharaoh Ramesses III at Medinet Habu (dating to c. 1150 BCE) describe a confederation of seafaring invaders called the "Sea Peoples" who attacked Egypt. One specific group listed among these invaders is the Peleset. (Britannica 2026)

 

Just as the tribe of Dan were people of the sea, so were the Pelesheth people — the “Philistines.”

 Scripture from Amos 9:7, Jeremiah 47:4, and Genesis 10:14 links the Philistines to the Island of Crete and the Aegean Sea region south of what is now Greece. The Danite tribe disappeared to history between the years 722–721 BCE when they were expelled to Assyria and blended with the people there.

The tribe of Dan was granted the land right next to the land of the Philistines near the city of Ekron and others. The tribe of Dan and the Philistines shared several cities as if they were one nation.

The tribe of Dan had been allotted their land between 1400 and 1200 B.C. so Danites and Philistines would have been much alike in their quests and attitudes.

From the Book of Judges, it is known that the tribe of Dan relocated to the north between the years 1200 BCE and 1050 BCE.

If the Philistines attacked Egypt circa 1150 B.C. perhaps from the shores of what is now Israel (Gaza), then there certainly would be contention between the Danites and Philistines, as they were both sea peoples with the same quest for land. One or the other had to move, and it was the Danites that did so.

As the dates reveal, the Philistines and the Danites would have desired the same land at the same time, so something had to give way. Could it be that before the tribe of Dan moved north that many of them could have assimilated with the Philistines? The story of Samson and Delilah reveals that there was a mixing of the two peoples of the same seafaring archetype.

Whether they became genetically mixed or not is unknown, but they would have shared the archetype of Cain to wander, both ethnicities as sea-faring people. Archetypes are not necessarily biological but from the shadow of those of long ago.

If nothing else, common to both groups of sea people would have been the archetype to wander from place to place. Just as the Philistines had migrated from the Aegean area to coastal Israel, perhaps the Danites which were not taken to Assyria continued their journeys up the Danube of Europe and the River Don of Russia.

Of course, the theory that Danites migrated to Denmark (Dani) is said to be coincidental, but is it? Like the Danites, the Danes were sea people that used the waters between them and the Mideast to plunger and even settle long after the time of Christ; some say they even wandered to North America past Iceland and Greenland.

Although not genetically related, Danes, Danites, and even the Philistine somehow seemed to have had the archetype of Cain common to them. Their common ancestor would likely have come from Namaah, the possible wife of Noah who was a descendent of Cain and was surely on the Ark.

(I wrote in my book, The Arks of Tubal-Cain, that the Cain archetype made it through the flood on round ships designed and built by Tubal-Cain, and there is cultural evidence of that all over the globe.)

The sons of Cain (by genetics) would have traveled far by sea and settled in high places. The most well-known example of a Viking sacred mountains is Helgafell, located in Iceland.

The Vikings believed that was a sacred dwelling place of their god, Thor, as well as an afterlife sanctuary. Viking/Danish lore has much in common with Mt. Hermon as a holy mountain and perhaps even Calvary. With that said, the archetype of Cain traveled as far as Iceland and perhaps the Americas. Cain, somehow, is the ancestor of us all, to wit:

 

·         “…Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother, and wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous” (1 John 3:12).

·         You (Abraham’s seed — the Jews) are of your father the Devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning…” (John 8:44).

 

The archetype of Cain was in the Jews and seems to be in all of what we call “mankind”. Since Eve was the mother of all, then Cain would have been the “father of all,” not Adam for Cain was Ish kind from his mother Ishah, called “Eve.”

That Cain wandered was not physically, as it may appear, but that his archetype became global.

The Danes had the same archetype as the Philistines and pursued the same places.

David said he would triumph over Philistia. He did; David established himself in Israel and Israel exists to this day, whereas both the Philistines and the Vikings are long gone from history. Their archetype still exists but genetically, they are just a flow of the genetic stream.

David wrote about the Palestinians, or did he?

Palestine did not exist anywhere until the Roman era wherein they renamed Judea “Palaestina” in 135 A.D. It had never existed before!

The country, not the ethnicity of Palestinia, would have included all the people of Judea without regard to race or religion.

Technically, Jews for a while were Palestinians, as well as the people of Gaza who have the archetype of Cain in them.

Palestinians were never Palestinians; they were always Pelosheth (פְּלֶשֶׁת) from the noun פָּלַשׁ (Palash): pey – lamed – shin, meaning connection, guidance, and boundary, respectively.

Palash, or Peloshet, comes from the pictographs pey–lamed–shin, which can symbolize a sea-people archetype: (1) with guided intrusion (2) with a population connected by movement, (3) directed across waters, and (4) pressing through the boundaries of established lands. Biologically, it resembles migration, invasion, and colonization rather than some fixed ethnicity (i.e, colonization).

In other words, the Philistines were not necessarily a uniform ethnicity, but with the archetype of Cain in their population. No wander Gaza Strip is such a battleground even to this day!

The word, Pelosheth, symbolizes directed boundary-penetration, while Gaza symbolizes intensified boundary-resistance. One is the biological act of pressing through; while the other is the biological state of hardening against pressure.

War and colonization would be in the Philistine archetype from Cain. No wonder Gaza has always been such a battleground! No wonder the Hamas ethnicity is as brutal as Danish Vikings; they all share the archetype of Cain somehow from the long past.

Not only are Danite and Philistines sea people but wanderers in the land of Nod — the archetype of Cain’s influence.
