There are three things that can be done in a confrontation about truths: 1) The truths can be ignored and the wrong person can live a lie in ignorant bliss. 2) The truth can be rejected outright as a falsehood and the wrong person will likely be angry. Or, 3) Truth can be accepted as such and wrong thinking dispelled.
There is nothing wrong with being "wrong"! It's an opportunity for improvement! We all have been and still are in some matters. It's what we do with our wrongness which matters. We must always ask ourselves the question: "Do I want to live a lie?"
The most important truth in any one's life is "Does God exist?" The second most important question we need to ask ourselves is contingent on the first! "If God doesn't exist, where did it all come from?"
It's easy to reject God. Because of his authority people by nature are prone to reject his existence. If God is real then we must submit to him or suffer the consequences which God says is his wrath. If a person rejects God, and he gives them the freedom to do so, then that second question needs to be answered. However, there is no answer to the question, and the person is a fool for not reviewing his or her belief!
The third question a believer or non-believer should ask is "If God does exist, from where did he come?" Let's face it, everything must have "come" from something. Even scientists recognize that, but that from which it came must also have come from something. Even if the Higgs Boson was the initial substance, it too had had to have an origin. It's called "The God Particle" for that reason. However, calling "something" from "nothing" requires faith that "something" never had an origin. The belief in the spontaneous existence of anything even requires greater faith. Any scientific THEORY about the creation is a "religion" requiring great faith. Even if the hypothesis is tested it can never be proven. That's the definition of the process. It can only fail to be disproved!
Science is dishonest about itself. People still accept the theories, many contradictory, which abound about the origins of everything! Even if something came from nothing, where did nothing, called space, originate?
The nothingness of the cosmos is called darkness!
Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. This addresses the formation of the earth where God claims that he did it! As he created light from darkness upon the earth a theological hypothesis is that God created light everywhere else as well! Can I prove it? Just as the scientists, I can't prove that God did anything because we must take his word for it! That's faith and admittedly that's "religion". Scientists have the same dilemma, but they fail to face the truth. Science is by faith! Because it's not empirical proof, people accepting evolution are accepting a lie. Admittedly, if they say this is a viable theory, they are being more honest, but then, the question of origins remains unanswered.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light."
I go with God. He is truth. He even tells us who he is:
Revelation 1:8 "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."This claim is "truth" accepted by faith because scientists can never disprove it! God has always been and always will be! That's more than science can say for the cosmos! This verse about man's last days confirms what God said long ago. God is consistent! He says here "I AM"!
Exodus 3:14 "And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you."God is without name. He just IS because he says "I AM". God is called by the Hebrew letters transliterated in English to YHWH ( Yod, He, Waw and He) and pronounced Yahweh. I would assume that somehow this means that God is beyond a name because he's so magnificent and any name we would try to call him is in vain!
The truth is, any idea we have on the origins of the universe is a religion! Why can't people accept that truth? Why can't people belief that God created it all, rather than it all "just happened"? Paul spoke to the Greeks of their "unknown God". Paul knew who they did not know. They hunted for truth. Paul was telling it to them!
If it's written anywhere in Scripture, God dictated it to the writers. Being that Jesus is God and identified as "The Word", if the writing is anywhere in what we call The Bible, then it's what Jesus said! Using the argument "Jesus never said ______!" isn't valid if it's said anywhere in scripture because Jesus was the source of all inspirational writings in the entire Bible! "The Word" is any communication between God and mankind, and that Word was equipped with flesh and CALLED Jesus and Emmanuel (God With Us).
Christians who rationalize their own faulty beliefs by using flimsy arguments are spewing trash handed them on a platter by the forces of evil. God uses naive Christians to mislead other Christians because Christians without discernment mix just enough truth with lies to make a nice blend for the gullible to accept.
Where does the oxymoron "hateful Christians" originate? It comes from the lips of those who mean well, but are handed spoiled meat on a platter. It comes from people, even Christians, who believe the lies of the devil!
What is Scripture for? It's for telling truth! If people are wrong in their thinking, what is to be done using scripture: teach, reprove and rebuke! What people do with Bible truths goes back to the three choices discussed earlier. It depends on their relationship with the Holy Spirit to discern which way they are to go!
