ON VAIN THOUGHT AND TALK

Mankind was created in the image of God. The teachings in the Bible, The Word, is the Will of God. His “images” are reflections of Him. When Lucifer looked at Adam and Eve, he would have seen God.

With that said, before sin, Adam and Eve were already “as God.” What Lucifer meant when he told Adam and Eve, if they ate, they would be “as God” is that he failed to recognize God in their images. Why is that? God had the knowledge of good and evil, and Adam only had the knowledge of good. Eve only had pale understanding of knowledge at all; she was naïve as she was so easily beguiled.

The command was given only to Adam before Eve came on the scene. What knowledge that Eve had came from Adam. As such, Adam was dominant, and was held accountable to teach Eve. Adam never questioned God about, What is death? when he was warned that he might die.

Death is evil, and when he entered unto temptation, Adam never understood what death would be. In the end, God had grace on Adam and Eve, and he put death on them in the form of a coat of skin, in all probability, a lamb. A gentle lamb died so that they would not.

For many centuries, the seed of Adam and Eve had one Law — Do not eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Cherubim were placed on the Way to the middle of the Garden, ostensibly to hamper the Way to the Tree of Life [i] but it was really to keep them out of the reach of the Tree of Death that stood right there as well. Given their free will, God feared that Adam’s kind, given two choices, would always select death. It seems to be the path of least resistance, but really, life must be resisted to enter unto death.

Before “original sin” the two could freely eat of the Tree of Life and any other tree, excepting the Tree of Death. Those trees were more than “trees;” they were spiritual doctrines as well. Whatever tree they ate from would either perish or preserve the Spirit of God in them; His images in which they both were created.

It was difficult for them to understand that eating of the Tree of Knowledge always provided a choice between two things: Shall I consume good or will I consume evil? Their Father knew that His creatures did not have the Knowledge of God. Their knowledge was “very good” [ii] but neither excellent nor perfect.

Over the years, after failure after failure, ignorance was no excuse, and He clarified that one Law by, not more Laws, but His “sayings” what the One Law entails. [iii]

Of course, scripture is God’s Will for His creatures from start to finish. To be His heir means that Adam’s kind continue in His Image.

Scripture painted a “picture” of what God expects from His children. The “picture” of God is His Image. He called His animated “painting” Jesus. [iv] Jesus is His Masterpiece, so God took the painting from man’s mental picture, and made that “Painting” an alive 3-D Image of Him for all to see. However, only those with a bright nature and bright eyes can see into the fourth dimension; into the Soul of Jesus. John saw that the “picture” that God painted to the patriarchs was the 4-D Image of God Himself. John validated that in John chapter one; that Jesus is the Word made flesh, and what the Word said all those thousands of years, were truly the Will of His Son, Jesus as well.

How is that known? Moses said, “The Lord delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God” (Deut 9:10). A “finger” is a 3-D image. In this case the “painting” was to those inspired, a flesh and blood Image of God. The point is that the Ten Commandments are the Will of God, but since Jesus IS God; they are the articles of the Will of the Son as well.

God took His “Finger” and painted for them, a “picture” on stone for perpetuity what Jesus would expect of His brothers and sisters to share the Estate of God (The House of God with many mansions in Paradise.) [v]

But the Estate is not for anyone! It is for those who desire to be there. It is “real estate” and to see the Estate requires special vison. Sinners know of the Estate but cannot see it clearly, if at all! Christians see the prize ahead and run the race for God’s Estate. [vi] A choice is required to obtain the prize. To be awarded any of the Estate requires entry into the race.

The race has boundaries. It cannot be run off-course. There are angels to keep the Way to the Tree of Life — the Trophy in the middle of Paradise on the River of God near His House. The boundaries are “statutes.”

Moses told the Hebrews the Way to the Tree of Life, or the directions to the Promise Land: “As for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it” (Deut 5:31). It seems that the “Ten Commandments” are not all commandments so much, but statutes and judgments as well. Just which are which?

Commandments are “mitsvah” — “codes of wisdom” is one definition. What makes them “commandments” is that God expects obedience from His children because He is the One Authority. Regardless, they are wise things to do, but the foolish will not do them.

“Judgments” are “mishpat” — or procedures that God deems right (righteous).

“Statutes” are “choq”— prescriptions. What God prescribes for eternal health — to love to the end.

It is written that breaking one of the Commandments is as of breaking them all. [vii] Hence, all are one and one are all. Another way of saying that is all are commands, statutes, and judgments, and all of them are the Will of God.

His Will is a document. God’s “paper” is stone, and the conditions of His Will are sealed by two things: His Promise of Paradise to be “probated” by the blood of Jesus. Circumcision of the flesh of the foreskin would not be enough but circumcision in heart, mind, soul, and strength. (The “heart” is the human will.) The human will must be cut off!

When Christians are born again, that is when the will of the flesh is turned over to God for saving. When Jesus died, that was God’s Signature in blood and coated with Divine Water, meaning the Holy Ghost of Jesus. The Ghost that Jesus gave up ensures that God will never leave nor forsake us, for He accepts that those reborn are sincere about their commitment.

And what are those “commitments?” To do His Will. Ultimately, all those statutes are not restrictive but ways to love God and others, to wit: “On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets” (Mat 22:40). So, the ways to love God is by “good will.” Agape love is “good will.” The Greatest Commandment is one with a corollary: Good will toward God and good will toward others. “Good will” is in the Image of God’s Will. What is that? “That none should perish.” [viii]

“Evil will” is caring not for God or that some are perishing. Blasphemy, the unpardonable sin, is caring not that the Holy Ghost of Jesus was separated from the Flesh of Jesus at His crucifixion.

Apathy is vanity. Where am I going with this? “Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain” (Exod 20; Deut 5:11). It is repeated in scripture for those who fail to comprehend the sincerity of it. That is God’s Will (His Code), God’s procedure, and God’s Prescription for eternal life. It is easy; you do nothing; it is just a matter of what not to do!

You do not “take” from God. What would that Be? His very Purpose. The Purpose of God is life. God breathed life unto Adam with His Holy Spirit, and God breathed life unto Adam’s kind with His Holy Ghost. When the Holy Ghost was breathed out of Jesus, it was breathed out to all mankind. Of course, it must be breathed in. That is rebirth — breathing in the blood and water that flowed from the belly of Jesus!

Never take that away from God for He offers life to everyone for free.

God is Existence. Before He became Flesh, He IS without Name. Once He took on Flesh, He IS called “Jesus.” God was taken in vain by the Hebrews, but His Christian people must not be so apathetic. Jews cared not that God in three substances suffered death. God’s Flesh, Jesus, felt the suffering. But His suffering on the Cross was nothing as great His agony in the Garden of Gethsemane where he sweated as if blood and water.

Vanity is taking the agony and ecstasy of Jesus so hastily to consider the Jesus gave up His Flesh to save our corrupted skin. Vain, or ‘shav in the Hebrew is emptiness of speech — saying words quickly without considering the meaning. It is taking the death of Jesus frivolously.

Jesus cried out to His Father for help: “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Mat 27:46). He felt as if His own Father had killed Him. When Jesus said those words, it came to mind Psalm 22 where the crucifixion of Jesus was foretold. Psalm 22 is a “picture” of God’s Image dying for mankind.

Jesus recalled that to His killers by calling out “My God! My God!” Now even Christians do that as an “exclamation point” because they are excited about a temporal thing. That vanity is blaspheming what Jesus did; He gave up the Holy Ghost and lost His soul for a time. The homeostasis was upset when God was isolated from the Flesh and the Holy Spirit was as well.

That is not frivolous. “My God!” should only be cried out in sincerity. It should be an exclamation that God is in charge; that He is the Grantor of Life, and the Authority over our own existence.

Of course, Jews played games with God. They refuse to even write His Name out of fear. But Christians are to revere the Name… to love it with all the heart, mind, soul, and strength. That cannot be done in frivolity! Substituting obvious words is a waste of time; it remains vanity in the heart and mind.

The most often sin is perhaps taking the Lord’s Name in vain. It is much more than “saying” vain things, but by doing so without proper reverence. More than what comes out of the mouth; it is what comes out of the heart.

Jesus is the Name above all Names, and that is paramount. [ix] “Names” are what people are called. Calling on Jesus without the intent to honor is not the Will of God. It is just so easy! Just do not say “My anything.” Not doing something is so much easier than doing them. Just look at all the non-valued added words that could be saved if not for vain talk!

Will you go to Hell for taking the Name in vain? Perhaps not… perhaps so if His Purpose is taken vainly. [x]That is not for me to say, but indeed, taking the Purpose of Jesus with apathy is disconcerting to God. He will judge. That is one reason for the commandment.

Never taking the Name in vain is not for the benefit of priests, preachers, the righteous, for me; but for God. It is His Will be done on Earth as in Heaven. [xi] Certainly, there will be no vanity there!

How is that as breaking them all? If God is not revered, He is no God to you. You become the “image,” you make a name for Him in apathy, and so on. Taking that Name so mildly would not indicate that you depend on that glorious Name!
