Spiritual But Not Religious

I am astounded at the number of people who say, "I am spiritual but not religious." What in the world does that mean? First off, the spiritual is not of this world! If someone is "spiritual", it implies a relationship with the supernatural, and yes indeed, Jesus is supra-natural.
"Religious" means devotion to a divine authority. The Christian religion is devotion to God Yahweh who is called Jesus.
"Spiritual but not religious" means that the person speaking is in relation to the supernatural, but not devoted to a divine authority. If the authority is not divine, then with what supernatural entity is the person communing? Scripture offers the answer:
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. (2 Cor 11:14-15)
If that "spiritual" influence is not Christ, who is it? They are Satan's servants (aka dark angels, unclean spirits or demons.)  The best example of Satan's servants follows:
For he (Jesus) said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. (Mark 5:8-13)
The man of Gaderines  was spiritual but not religious.  He believed in Jesus (Mark 5:6) but was not dedicated to him. He even worshiped Jesus but legions of unclean spirits occupied him. He was very spiritual - filled with a multitude of spiritual demons.
It should be obvious to anyone with any intelligence at all, that being familiar with spirits is dangerous! Scripture indicates just how dangerous:
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephes 6:12)
Foolish people scoff at that; they mock and have contempt for Christ, Scripture, and believers. People hate us Christians because they can't understand what they cannot see. My beliefs are not my own; they are God's. Never blame me, blame what I accept as truth. That statement itself is truth:
That there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. (2 Pet 3:3-4)
Scoffers' lusts are what they know. Their knowledge is limited to the natural, and they have no knowledge of what they cannot see nor understand. The supernatural cannot be proven by scientific methods because science is biased toward the natural. They have no tests for the supernatural because they don't believe it exists.
At one time atoms could not be seen nor detected. Did that make them fantasy? Atoms were real whether science knew of them or not. DNA went undetected up until the last century. Did that make DNA non-existent. Intelligent people should get my point. Scoffers are limited by their biasness; they are blind to what they cannot see!
Because scoffers don't believe in demons does not make demons less real. It does, though, make scoffers foolish. Scoffers are confined in a natural prison where the supernatural seems to not exist, and their lack of understanding makes them fail to seek truth. Satan has disguised himself as an angel of light but his existence is darkness. Those who scoff and choose darkness may as well choose death!
