Eighty percent of illegal immigrants surveyed said that the promise of being
allowed to stay in the US because of new laws was their reason for making the
dangerous journey. Few will qualify as refugees.
The laws responsible are the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection
Reauthorization Act of 2008 (that dealt specifically with child sex trafficking)
and Obama's directive, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) of 2012.
Human smugglers are misrepresenting the facts and cajoling people to make the
trek to the US.
Our immigration laws have not been enforced for many years, well before Obama.
Our policy needs "comprehensive" reform, because the country needs immigrants.
Like any other sovereign nation, though, we have a right and a responsibility to
decide who can immigrate.
Secure, controlled borders keep out more than just desirable immigrants. They
protect us from diseases, criminals, terrorists, and dangerous materials. They
are part of the "common defense" of the American People that is Constitutionally
required of the federal government.
Most US citizens agree that immigration is necessary and that our immigration
laws and policies need an overhaul. So, what is blocking the process?
Progressives like Obama yearn for open borders, meaning no control of who or
what comes and goes. Since immigrants more frequently vote Democrat, it
contributes to Democrat voter rolls. It also contributes to an atmosphere of
fear and chaos on which progressives feed. Crises present an opportunity to
take drastic progressive measures with lots of hidden provisions not seen in the
fog of haste.
Obama is transferring illegal immigrants without proper identification, health
screening, or notification of officials at the destinations. His request for $3
billion+ for the crisis does not include anything for enforcement, only care of
the immigrants.
The impasse: Obama refuses to do his job, secure the border!
